Niagara Glen Hike Nov 11 2009

What a great day!  Actually, when I stepped out of the house at 8:30 it was raining.  I ran in to check the Weather Channel and it showed a small band going over Grand Island and LaSalle.  by the time I drove through Niagara Falls it was dry!
Had a great turnout of 27 people, many who have never hiked this area and were surprised at the beauty and geography.  The clouds cleared, the sun came out and the wind was non-existent – a perfect autumn day!
Three quarters of the way through the hike, which passed near the Gorge exit point, a little more than one half of the group decided to end their adventure.  The rest continued on to see the remainder of the Glen.
The beaver is still downing trees and we just missed seeing him according to a few folk fishing on the rocks.  Also spotted a black squirrel who had the last two inches of his tail tipped in white.
So it turned out to be a great day and met so many new people.  Thanks to all who showed up – happy there was no traffic to endure going into Canada – hope it was the same going back to the U.S.
