1HikeGoundary Hill State Forest5.1 miles
Moderate. This is a hike through woods and along streams on the FLT with up to 500' elevation change. Travel is from access point 5 to access point 6 on map M13. A car shuttle will be required.
30 minutes/17 miles from Seneca Lodge. Meet at trail end at 12:00 Noon. Maximum 15.
2HikeBurnt Hill Loop, Finger Lakes State Forest 3.8 miles
Moderate. This popular loop hike in a beautiful nearby State Forest combines the Burnt Hill Trail and the well-known Interloken Trail for a nice circuit with scenic vistas. It is a primitive trail with a natural tread. We will hike clockwise after carpooling to the Picnic Area Rd trailhead.
20 minute drive from Watkins Glen. Meet at Seneca Lodge at 1:00 PM. Maximum 15.
3HikeWatkins Glen State Park Gorge and rim loop2.4 miles
Shorter hike, but strenuous for elevation. Start at Northwest lot. One of the most popular NYS parks with 19 stunning waterfalls. Car spotting is possible for those who desire only a downhill hike.

4PaddleSeneca Lake 
Launch from Watkins Glen at one of the boat launches and paddle to Hector Falls. It's about an hour paddle up and another hour back... maybe a half hour break or so to enjoy falls. The paddle is on Seneca Lake so the chop and difficulty will be weather dependent. Afternoon paddle for warmer weather.
Meet at Village Marina Restaurant Parking lot at 12:00 Noon. Maximum 12.
5HikeCornell Lab of Ornithology Visitor Center2.5 miles
Easy. We'll meet at Cornell Lab of Ornithology Visitor Center in Ithaca. 2.5 miles walk, flat, easy. We'll walk most of the trails at the center and view the exhibits inside. Similar to Sunday hike #8.
45 minutes/30 miles from Seneca Lodge. Meet at the Lab Visitor Center at 12 Noon. Maximum 15.
6HikeCornell Arboretum/Botanic Garden/Cornell campus gorges and The Cayuga Trail around Cornell2.5 - 5 miles
Easy / Moderate. A little late for flowers, but it is a beautiful place. The Cornell Botanic Garden Nevin Center should be open. Possible stop at Cornell Dairy store for ice cream! This trip has a few loops so it could be 2.5 miles, 5 miles or more. We will aim to finish by 3:15 PM.
27 miles/45 min. from Watkins Glen. Meet at Seneca Lodge at 11 am to carpool or meet at 12 noon at the Cornell Mundy Wildflower garden, Caldwell Rd, Ithaca NY 14850 (parking is free here). Maximum 10.
7HikeInterloken Trail, part 15.5 miles
Easy. We will hike the southern end of the Interloken Trail. This is a branch trail of the Finger Lakes Trail that runs the length of the Finger Lakes National Forest - the only National Forest in New York State! This 5.5 mile, 3 hour hike is rated easy. We will hike about 0.1 mile on the Backbone Trail until it crosses the Interloken Trail and then head south on the Interloken Trail back to the junction with the main Finger Lakes Trail and then to the parking area on Burnt Hill Rd. This is a dog friendly hike.
Meet at Seneca Lodge at 12 Noon. We will leave cars at the small parking area on Burnt Hill Rd about 1/2 mile north of Wyckoff Rd in the town of Bennettsburg, about a 15 minute drive from Watkins Glen State Park. We will then carpool to the parking area on Potomac Rd at the intersection of Chicken Coop Hill Rd. Maximum 15.
8HikeRobert Treman State Park Rim and Gorge Trail Loop.4.5 miles / 500' elevation change
Moderate. This spectacular hike takes you up the gorge from the lower park entrance to the top of the gorge then back down on the rim trail. You will pass 12 waterfalls including 115' Lucifer Falls.
32 minutes/24.5 miles from Seneca Lodge in Watkin's Glen. Bring snack/lunch and water. Meet at Lower Park entrance ranger station at 12 Noon. Maximum 15.

1PaddleChemung River Basin Paddle 
We will drive from the Seneca Lodge to #18 Dunn Field Boat Launch and unload our canoes and kayaks. Our cars will be spotted at the #14 Toll Bridge Park Boat Launch ( 6.7 miles/ 13 min. car drive) . The paddle will be about 7 miles, about 3.5 hours of paddling with a lunch stop and car spotting. Rural scenery, gravel, muddy put in, slow current. Water level unknown until closer to the date.

2HikeTanglewood Nature Center, Elmira6 miles
The Tanglewood Nature Center in Elmira offers 9 miles in their trail system that passes over the Chemung valley. We will be hiking a 6 mile loop starting from the parking lot of the Nature Center at 443 Coleman Avenue. There are lovely meadow and forest sections along the way as we work upwards to a spectacular view high over the winding Chemung River. You can test your knowledge about trees on the tree identification trail. Afterwards we can explore the center checking out their exhibits.
40 minute drive from Watkins Glen. Meet at Nature Center at 10:00 AM. Maximum 15.
3HikeSugar Hill Fire Tower4.5 Miles
Easy. Enjoy a hike on the FLT/NCT to the Sugar Hill Fire Tower (elevation 2096'). This is similar to Hike 6 but shorter. This is map M14 of the FLT. The fire tower was built in 1941 by the CCC and offers excellent views of the surrounding Finger Lakes Region. We will plan to return to our cars for an out and back hike.
30 min / 18 miles from Seneca Lodge. Meet at Seneca Lodge to carpool to trail Head at 9:30 AM. Maximum 15.
4HikeTexas Hollow State Forest9 Miles
Strenuous. Texas Hollow State Forest from Texas Hollow Rd to Rogers Hill Lean-to and back. Difficult 9 mile round trip. This hike will be on the Finger Lakes Trail map M15 access 10 that is also part of the North Country Trail. It will include a 0.7 mile blue blazed loop to view other ponds. The Terrain is varied with a few bogs and ponds - elevation change of 610 ft. There is a long steep climb with a great view at the end off of Carley Rd. Hiking poles would be helpful in spots. 10 miles / 20 min from Seneca Lodge. Meet at Seneca Lodge at 9:00 AM, have lunch in lean to, hike back. 6 hours. Maximum 15.
5HikeButtermilk - Treman Traverse9.5 Miles
Strenuous. Hike through two NY State Parks and two nature preserves. We will hike beside many beautiful waterfalls and through the unique gorges of Buttermilk and Treman State Parks. The beginning and end are in the state parks and the middle section is on the Finger Lakes Trail. This hike includes hiking up both Buttermilk and Treman gorges and has lots of stairs. It also includes a fairly steep down along Lick Brook. There is a 1/4 mile road walk due to a hunting closure. We will meet at Upper Treman State Park, Rt. 327, Enfield, leave a car and drive a second car to Lower Buttermilk State Park, where we will begin. Bring lunch, snacks and water. We can refill water at the 7 mile point. Dress for the weather.
About a 40 minute drive from Watkin's Glen. Meet at Seneca Lodge to carpool to trail head at 8:30 AM. Maximum 15.
6HikeSugar Hill Fire Tower7 Miles

Moderate. Fairly easy walking. (Basically, a longer version of Janet's Friday hike). 20 minute drive to trail parking from Seneca Lodge.

8HikeKeuka Lake Outlet Trail7 Miles
Moderate. Historic trail past numerous old former mills and a waterfall along the Crooked Lake Canal between Penn Yan and Dresden. The trail is the old towpath along the canal built by NYS in 1833. We'll stop for "home-made" ice cream at the end of the hike.
30 minute drive from Seneca Lodge, cars will be spotted. Meet at Seneca Lodge to carpool at 9:30 AM. Maximum 15.
9HikeLindsay-Parsons biodiversity preserve4 miles
Moderate. This is a moderate hike of 3-4 miles through open fields, along ponds, and into forests. For more information on this Finger Lakes Land Trust property check out their website: Lindsey Parsons Biodiversity Preserve
27 miles / 40 min. from Seneca Lodge. Meet at the main parking lot at 10:00am on Route 34. The lot is on the east side of the road ~0.5 miles south of Sylvan Drive. Maximum 15.
10HikeAbbott Loop8 miles
Strenuous. This rugged loop hike encompasses some of the most beautiful scenery in Danby State Forest. The loop utilizes the Finger Lakes Trail and the North Country Trail. Expect 1500' elevation changes and stream crossing and spectacular views of the Inlet valley from Thatchers Pinnacles.
45 min. from Watkin's Glen. Carpool from Seneca Lodge at 8:00 AM. Maximum 10.
11HikeShindagin Hollow State Forest8 miles
Strenuous. We will hike 8 miles of the Finger Lakes Trail in Shindagin Hollow State Forest (M18). We will begin at the trail head on Old 76 Rd in Brooktondale and finish at Ridgeway Rd at the crossing of the abandoned railroad. The hike begins with a steady 400 ft increase to South Rd and then a nice downhill to the lovely Shindagin Lean-To. After a steepish up-hill we will pass an old house foundation and an abandoned family cemetery. If participants want this hike can be made longer by exploring some of the mountain bike trails in Shindagin Hollow State Forest. Then we will go down a steep hill on one of the newest bits of the Finger Lakes Trail, cross White Church Rd and follow the abandoned Lehigh Valley railroad bed along a marshy stretch of Willseyville Creek to Ridgeway Rd. This is a dog friendly hike.
This hike is about a 1 hour drive from Watkins Glen and will involve a car shuttle. Meet at Seneca Lodge at 8:00 AM to carpool. Maximum 15.
12HikeWaterfall Tour 
Easy. We will be walking around the Town of Montour Falls and visiting 6 waterfalls. The path is mostly level. We will have a picnic lunch in Havana Glen Park. There is an $8 fee which covers admission to the park and the picnic lunch.
We will leave from Seneca Lodge at 9:00 AM. Maximum 40.

2HikeConnecticut Hill Wildlife Management5.8 Miles
Strenuous. The Van Lone Hill Loop Trail combines a scenic portion of the Finger lakes Trail with a State Wildlife Trail, to offer a beautiful forest setting with nice waterfalls and footbridges. We will hike clockwise after carpooling to the Gulf St Rd trailhead. ~950' Elevation change, ~4 hours.
20 minute drive from Watkins Glen. Meet at Seneca Lodge at 9:30 AM. Max. 15.

4HikeTaughannock Falls State Park5 Miles
Easy / Moderate. Gorge and rim loop - 5 miles total. Gorge only (2 miles round trip) then around north and south rims (additional 4 miles). Could be an easy 2 mile gorge only hike.
35 min / 22 miles from Seneca Lodge. Meet at Taughannock Falls Gorge Trail Parking lot at 10:00 AM. Maximum 12.
5HikeInterloken Trail part 26 Miles
Easy. Today we will hike the northern half of the Interloken Trail. This branch trail of the Finger Lakes Trail runs the length of the only National Forest in NYS, the Finger Lakes National Forest! This 5.9 mile, 3.5 hour hike is rated easy. We will leave cars at the small parking area on Parmenter Rd at the northern end of the Forest. We will then carpool to the parking area on Potomac Rd at the intersection of Chicken Coop Hill Rd. We will hike about 0.1 mile on the Backbone Trail until it crosses the Interloken Trail and then head north on the Interloken Trail back to the parking area on Parmenter Rd for a total of 5.9 easy miles. On the way we will pass Teeter Pond with beaver lodges, dams and wildlife. This is a dog friendly hike.
About a 30 minute drive from Watkins Glen State Park. Meet at Seneca Lodge at 9:30 AM. Maximum 15.
6BikeCatherine Valley Trail24 Miles
Easy. A rails-to-trails ride from Watkins Glen to Millport, 24 miles out and back. The trail is cinders and gravel, mostly flat, passing through forest and along the edges of fields. It goes through Montour Falls with its beautiful waterfall right in town.
About 1 mile from Seneca Lodge. Meet at downtown Watkin's Glen, trailhead at Lafayette Park at the intersection of 4th St. and S. Decatur St. at 9:00 AM. Bring lunch or snacks, water. Maximum 15. About 3 hours.
7HikeCayuga Waterfront Trail4 Miles
Easy. Hike a 4 mile loop to the Farmers Market and back, if interested we can go farther on the trail or later drive to Cass park and do the 2 mile loop on that side of the lake.
26 miles (40 min) from Watkins Glen. Meet at Stewart Park, 1 James L Gibbs Dr, Ithaca, NY 14850 at 10 AM. Make a right on Gardner Parkway and then a right after you cross the rail road tracks. Maximum 15.
8Hike / BirdingLab of Ornithology Tour and hike Sapsucker Woods4 Miles
Easy. 4 miles of trails in the 220 acre Sapsucker Woods. Expect easy walking with some boardwalks, bridges, and overlooks to enhance our views of woods, wetlands and ponds. The lab has binoculars to lend for those who would like to try a little bird watching. Birders of all ability levels welcome on this walk. After our outdoor walk, we are invited to a behind the scenes tour of the Lab of Ornithology including a peek into the Cornell Museum of Vertebrates, and a chance to learn about some of the scientific work going on at the lab. This includes Evolutionary Biology, the Macaulay Library (a collection of digital recordings that help with bird identification), Citizen Science, Conservation Science, Bird Population Studies and Information Science. We will also see some of 1,000 works of the art collection at the Lab, including a Maya Lin sculpture. Both parts of this tour reflect ADK's mission, and should be a very enjoyable way to end our weekend.
