Tues, Feb 9, Peter Hornbeck spoke to our meeting. He talked about canoes and briefly about politics. He is staunchly on ADK’s side in favor of preservation of a natural Adirondacks. This is a difficult time in the Adirondacks with great pressure for development and against the acquisition of land for public use. Hornbeck has been nominated to a position on the Adirondack Park Agency which has been a bulwark against development. Senator Antoine Thompson Chairman of the NY Senate Environment and Conservation Committee is key to Hornbeck’s appointment.
