Bob Ensminger co-ordinated this joint paddle with the Buffalo Audubon Society. There were a large number of canoes and kayaks paddling between Knowlesville Road and Sour Springs Road in Genesee County. The song birds serenaded us as we passed a muskrat hut and then a large beaver hut. The creek twisted and turned continually, but there were no problems until we happened on a downed log that crossed the creek. Some struggled to scoot around it while still in the kayak while others slogged through mud to carry our canoes around it. The rest got through easily by waiting for the ranger to remove the obstacle with his chain-saw. The weather forecast was for rain, but we had only overcast skies. This event will be done again October 2nd.Submitted by: Richard Schraven
