Twelve riders gathered in Lewiston on a sunny, and comfortably cool, morning. Even though the Peach Fest parade wasn’t due to start for an hour, families were beginning to line the parade route and traffic had begun to build. We left the hustle and bustle of the normally quiet town and easily pedaled, mostly down hill, along bike paths and mostly quiet roads to Fort Niagara State Park. During our lunch break at the park we enjoyed the view of the lake and the often humorous comments from some of our group. Even though the ride to the park was generally down hill, the very gradual grade of our route back to Lewiston was also easy riding. After stowing our bikes, many of our group strolled the festival grounds while taking in the happy sights, sounds, and smells. For me, the highlight was a delicious peach shortcake. This was a delightful day with great companions. Submitted by Ron Dorr
